School Board Policy Revisions

School Board Policy Revisions

At the Alexandria City School Board meeting on October 9, 2025, the School Board adopted a resolution, amended one policy and the superintendent amended one regulation. The following is a summary of the key changes. More details are available on BoardDocs.

Policy Changes

DGB - Authorization of Procurement and Credit Card Use.

DGB-R - ACPS Procurement Card Regulations.

  • Five-Year Review.
  • Standard changes.
  • Slightly expanded scope by removing specificity.
  • Split the regulation into regulation and manual.

Procurement Resolution

  • New Governance document.
  • The Procurement Resolution governs all procurement activities conducted by ACPS, in alignment with the Virginia Public Procurement Act (VPPA) and serves as the foundation for procurement procedures and practices throughout the school division, no matter the funding source.

ACPS has over 400 policies and regulations which are systematically revised prior to being presented to the School Board for information. The revision process includes alignment with the associated VSBA model policy, alignment with the Code of Virginia, an equity review, a legal review, revisions by a team of staff members, a Senior Leadership Team review, and a School Board Policy Committee review. Public input on proposed revisions is taken at School Board Policy Committee meetings and regular School Board meetings.
