Action taken at the June 12, 2025, Alexandria City School Board meeting updated the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) academic calendar to increase the number of instructional days to 180, strengthen alignment with neighboring jurisdictions and to enhance the school division's capacity to accommodate inclement weather or emergency closures.
As a result, the following dates are now school days on the traditional academic calendar:
- Fri., Oct. 3, 2025
- Mon., Nov. 10, 2025
- Fri., Feb. 27, 2026
On the modified calendar for Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School, the following dates are now school days:
- Fri., Oct. 3, 2025
- Mon., Nov. 10, 2025
- Fri., March 27, 2026
On both calendars, Wed., Feb. 25, 2026 and Wed, March. 4, 2026 have been designated as early dismissal days to accommodate Spring parent-teacher conferences. Tues., May 26, 2026, has been designated as a teacher work day and a potential inclement weather make-up day that can be converted into an instructional day to compensate for unplanned school closures.
