2025 ACPS Celebrations of Learning

2025 ACPS Celebrations of Learning

The 2025 Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Celebrations of Learning will showcase highlights of project-based learning (PBL) experiences in our schools this year on Tue., May 20, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at the Alexandria City High School (ACHS) Minnie Howard Campus.

Students and teachers will share their project outcomes and reflect on what they have learned through the process. Community partners will also share resources for connecting learning to the real world, and guests can participate in a mini-project demonstration.

Project-based learning is an instructional method in which students investigate and respond to an authentic and complex question, problem or challenge. As students learn academic content and skills, they also develop the attributes of the ACPS Learner Profile: critical thinker, communicator, collaborator, innovator, advocate and change-maker.

In keeping with the ACPS 2025 Strategic Plan: Equity for All, our goal is to have students work together to solve problems and know they can bring positive change to their communities. The showcase recognizes ACPS students and teachers who have demonstrated what it means to be an actively engaged citizen and critical thinker. This event also highlights how real-world, community-connected learning is an essential component of the Academies at Alexandria City High School.

Families, staff and community members who attend the event will learn more about the impact of project-based learning during a gallery walk and community resource share. Guests can also participate in a fun mini-project open to all.

Please RSVP in advance if you plan to attend the event.
