ACPS Celebrates National Coaches Day on Oct. 6, 2023
Three cheers for our Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) coaches as we celebrate National Coaches Day on Fri., Oct. 6, 2023. Our ACPS coaches lead students in a variety of sports and serve as important mentors.
“I want to thank our coaches for how they teach our students the skills needed for each sport while inspiring them to excel in all aspects of their lives,” Superintendent Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt said. “I am proud to say that our coaches also emphasize the importance of academic achievement as being the cornerstone for success.”
Coaches help students learn how to work together as a team for the greater good and understand the importance of leadership, commitment and perseverance. Our ACPS coaches are in it for the win, in terms of achievement and helping students acquire the skills necessary on and off the playing field.
“Our coaches are an integral part of our students’ growth and development. They are role models and help our student athletes learn how to effectively manage challenges on and off the field. I am proud of the work that our athletics staff does in our schools to benefit our students,” ACPS Executive Director of Athletics and Student Activities James Parker said.
