ACPS Department of Student Services and Equity Welcomes Deneé Scott as Director of K-12 School Counseling

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is pleased to announce the selection of Deneé Scott as the director of K-12 school counseling for the division. Previously serving as the director of counseling at Francis C. Hammond Middle School (Hammond), Scott has prioritized creating equitable opportunities and outcomes for students throughout her career.

At Hammond, Scott led the school counseling team in becoming a Recognized ASCA Model Program through the American School Counselor Association. She was integral to Hammond’s implementation of social, emotional and academic learning (SEAL) curriculum and led efforts to support the needs of all learners through their school’s multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) process. Scott has taught at the elementary and collegiate levels, has been a middle school and high school counselor and served as a middle school lead counselor.

Scott holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Oswego State University and a master’s degree in counseling and human development from George Mason University. She is currently completing her doctoral degree in community care and counseling through Liberty University.
