ACPS Names Cora Kelly’s Jasibi Crews as the 2023-24 ACPS Principal of the Year

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) proudly recognizes its Principal of the Year for 2024. The Principal of the Year is Cora Kelly School for Math, Science and Technology’s (Cora Kelly) Jasibi Crews.
Joining Cora Kelly in 2017, Crews has led the school to outstanding performance outcomes in the form of state accreditation each year, and immeasurable improvements in school culture through her set expectations and role modeling. She has created an inviting environment for the community and families to partner with the school. Since Crews took on the role as Cora Kelly’s principal, family engagement and interaction has increased phenomenally.
She employs diverse strategies in an effort to meet student and family needs. Crews ensures translation services are provided for all school communications and at events. She encourages co-teaching, organizes enrichment services and champions social, emotional and academic learning (SEAL).
Crews has reinvigorated the designation of Cora Kelly as a STEM school, investing in the staff and infrastructure to provide students with 21st-century skills in science, technology, engineering and math while fostering inquisitive mindsets and creative problem-solving skills.
Crews is best known for her commitment to communication, accountability and empathy which makes her an exceptional principal and leader. Her dedication to education and unwavering commitment to the school community make her the ideal principal of the year.
