Alexandria PTAC Named Child Advocate of the Year

The Alexandria PTA Council (PTAC) has been named the 2023-24 Child Advocate of the Year (Northern Region) for the Council PTA Category by the Virginia PTA.
"The Alexandria City Council of PTAs/PTSAs is honored and thrilled to be recognized for its advocacy work. We share this honor alongside the dedicated volunteers of our PTA units who work so hard to drive meaningful change through family engagement initiatives and provide needed support and resources for students, teachers and families,” said Alexandria PTAC President Meta Viers. “Our accomplishments would not be possible without our community's invaluable partnerships and collaborative spirit throughout this journey."
Alexandria PTAC was singled out for advocacy outreach that included robust family educational resources on the School Board budget and meeting updates. They also developed a coordinated campaign that included yard signs to increase awareness and advocate for local school funding. Additionally, Alexandria PTAC hosted candidate forums and other community outreach activities that positioned the Council PTA as a valued community and family resource.
