Celebrating Public Schools Week: A Tribute to Our ACPS Community

Public Schools Week 2025 is right around the corner! From Feb. 24-28, 2025, Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) will join school divisions across the nation in recognizing the dedication, resilience and impact of public schools in shaping the future of our students and communities.

This year’s theme, “Community Engagement,” underscores the vital role that families, educators, school staff and community partners play in ensuring student success. Public Schools Week, led by the Learning First Alliance (LFA), provides an opportunity to celebrate the hard work of everyone who contributes to the strength of our public schools—including teachers, support staff, administrators, School Board members and, of course, students and families.

How You Can Join the Celebration

We encourage the entire ACPS community to take part in Public Schools Week and show their support for public education:

• Share Your ACPS Story: Whether you are a teacher, student or parent, share what makes ACPS special to you! Post a story, photo, or video on social media using #PSW25 and #ACPSHeartWork to highlight the incredible work happening in our schools every day.
• Join the #ShowUsYourHeartACPS Challenge: As part of our ACPS Heart Work campaign, we are inviting students, staff, families and community members to share moments that showcase the passion and dedication of our school community. Post on social media and tag @ACPSk12 to be featured!
• Engage with Your School Board and Community Leaders: Public Schools Week is also an opportunity to acknowledge the leadership of our School Board members, teachers and staff who work tirelessly to provide a high-quality education for all students. Consider sending a note of appreciation or sharing your gratitude publicly.
