UNCUT Youth Back to School Community Day

Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, 12-4 p.m.
Old Towne Pool (1609 Cameron St.)

UNCUT Youth, a youth empowerment and mentoring organization, is hosting a community day across the street from Jefferson-Houston PreK-8 IB School. UNCUT Youth will offer free school supplies and haircuts, and families can enjoy food and fun activities such as swimming, games, moon bounce and more.

Back to School Night: Middle Schools

Back to School Night is a great opportunity for families to learn more about their children’s teachers and classes this year. Families at George Washington Middle School and Francis C. Hammond Middle School are invited to attend.

Back to School Night: Alexandria City High School - All Campuses

Back to School Night (BTSN) is a great opportunity for families to learn more about their children’s teachers and classes this year. Please note that due to construction and repair projects that impact parking availability,, ACHS - King Street and Minnie Howard Campuses will conduct Back to School Night activities virtually. In a virtual BTSN format, teachers will pre-record videos and share via Canvas no later than 6 p.m. ACHS staff will share more details prior to BTSN.  

  • King Street Campus Virtual: Videos will be shared via Canvas, Thurs., Sept. 8, no later than 6 p.m.
  • Minnie Howard Campus Virtual: Videos will be shared via Canvas, Wed., Sept. 7, no later than 6 p.m.
  • Chance for Change Campus: In-person BTSN format, Wed., Sept. 7, at 6 p.m.
  • Satellite Campus: In-person BTSN format, Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m.

ALIVE! Pop-Up Food Distribution

Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
William Ramsay Recreation Center (5650 Sanger Ave.)

ALIVE! is a local not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency and basic needs support to children, families and individuals living in poverty and with hunger in the City of Alexandria. ALIVE! will distribute bags of food to Alexandria City residents in the parking lot of the William Ramsay Recreation Center. No ID is required.

All families need to ensure that Back to School forms for their students are complete by Sept. 30, 2022. We ask families to please confirm emergency contacts, update children’s health information and relay any opt-out preferences, among other items of importance in these packets.
