Schools Reopen and Classes Resume

College Planning and Preparation for Students with Disabilities
Tues., Jan. 9, 12-1 p.m. and 6-7 p.m.

Students with disabilities and their families are invited to join the ACPS Anne R. Lipnick Special Education Parent Resource Center to learn practical strategies for preparing for college, including finding the best option, locating supports at college and preparing to navigate college life.
2024 Academic Orientation and Curriculum Night (Current Grade 8-11 families)

Families are invited to meet with dozens of teachers and visit tables with information about core and elective classes, learn about expectations for next year at grade-level meetings and attend information sessions on advanced courses and our academies. Learn more.

Charles Houston Recreation Center (901 Wythe Street)
Join Charles Houston Recreation Center and Project Discovery for an HBCU College Fair. Participants will be able to talk to college admissions counselors and ask any questions they might have. ESL II — Conversation Club for Intermediate ESL Speakers
Mondays and Wednesdays in January, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library (5005 Duke Street)
The Alexandria Library builds community by providing opportunities to learn, explore, create and connect. Its ESL II Conversation Club is a space for intermediate speakers to practice English and build confidence. No registration is required.
Cultural Observance Days
On weekdays, these are regular school days. However, these days should not have assessments, sporting events and other school sponsored special activities. Any missed assignments due to student absences on these days can be made up without penalty.

The regularly scheduled School Board meeting will take place twice in January. School Board meetings are held in person in the School Board Meeting Room at 1340 Braddock Place unless noted otherwise.
