Annual Alexandria Pride Fair

The City offers residents a variety of events and opportunities to celebrate Pride Month in June and to recognize LGBTQIA+ individuals and their contributions to Alexandria’s diverse community and the nation. The Alexandria LGBTQ+ Task Force, in partnership with the Alexandria Library, Department of Community and Human Services and many community partners are hosting the Seventh Annual Alexandria Pride Fair.

Minnie Howard Phase II Community Meeting (Virtual)

As the new Alexandria City High School — Minnie Howard Campus nears completion and prepares to open to the community, the ACPS Office of Capital Programs, Planning and Design team is pleased to invite you to a virtual community meeting about phase II of the Minnie Howard Redevelopment Project. This meeting will provide an update on upcoming summer construction and review the phase II construction timeline.

ACT for Alexandria’s 20th Anniversary Community Celebration

ACT for Alexandria is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a community celebration. Come connect with neighbors as you play yard games, sample cuisine from local food trucks, enjoy an exhibit featuring local artists and participate in a community art project. The event is family-friendly, festive and free. Registration is required.

Juneteenth National Independence Day

Charles Houston Recreation Center (901 Wythe Street)

The Charles Houston Recreation Center will host its first ever Juneteenth Festival. The event will feature live entertainment, food, vendors and arts and history activities for all ages. The community is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to this day of celebration of African American history and culture.

Summer Learning Begins

Mon., June 24

Our hands-on summer learning experiences for students will run from June 24 to July 18, 2024. Learning will take place every Monday through Thursday, except for Thurs., July 4, 2024. No school on Fridays. Registration for summer learning closed in early May.

 Community Cookouts

Various dates and locations

The Alexandria Police Department is hosting community cookouts throughout the summer. The cookouts are sponsored by various nonprofits and city agencies.

The following cookouts will be held from 6-7:30 p.m.:

  • Tue., June 4 at Casa Chirilagua (4109 Mount Vernon Avenue).
  • Tue., June 11 at 5500 Morgan Street.
  • Tue., June 25 at 900 West Glebe Road.

ALIVE! Pop-Up Food Distributions

ALIVE! Food Hubs offer free food, personal items, cleaning supplies, school supplies and referrals to other services. ALIVE! Food Hubs are for City of Alexandria residents. Proof of Alexandria residency may be requested. Please note that both Food Hubs will be closed on Sat., June 29, 2024.

Get hyped for SNKR Jam '24! Rock your freshest gear and your flyest sneakers for a night of fun. This event includes a light dinner, karaoke, dance contests, picture booths and a DJ.

The regularly scheduled School Board meeting will take place.

School Board meetings are held in person in the School Board Meeting Room at 1340 Braddock Place unless noted otherwise. Members of the public may attend in person or via Zoom. Please visit the School Board webpage for any updates to the meeting schedule.
