Denocencia Wade Joins ACPS as Director of Educational Facilities
Denocencia Wade took on the role as the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) director of educational facilities, effective June 2, 2025. In this position, Wade will oversee the coordination, management and execution of the non-capacity Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to ensure optimal results for all facilities. She will manage major renovation and repair projects for all schools and facilities within the school division and is responsible for ensuring projects are completed to ACPS’ standards. In her role, Wade will also supervise a diverse and multi-skilled team.

Her proven ability to manage complex renovation projects, develop strategic operational frameworks and lead diverse teams will be instrumental in ensuring our facilities provide the optimal learning environments for our students,” said Chief Operating Officer Dr. Alicia Hart.
Wade’s diverse background includes serving as Amtrak’s principal project manager, community investment program in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland, spearheading the design and implementation of a programmatic strategy to oversee an innovative $50 million Community Investment Program (CIP) for the Frederick Douglass Tunnel Program. She previously served as a school operations consultant at Slate Street LLC, serving Atlanta, Georgia and Washington, D.C. where she provided expertise in operations to identify areas of improvements and strategic project management support to PreK-12 schools.
At Kipp DC, Wade was the founding director of facilities, tasked with establishing the vision and strategic direction to streamline the network’s existing facilities management operations into a model for other schools by standardizing policies and implementing procedures to provide premiere learning environments. While serving as Kipp DC’s campus director of operations, Wade oversaw all school operations of its first turnaround PreK-8 campus. Wade also was a senior financial analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York City.
Wade earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning, Community and Economic Development Concentration from the University of Pennsylvania.
