Draft 2025-2030 Strategic Plan: Review and Public Comment Opportunity

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is excited to share the draft of its 2025–30 Strategic Plan which will serve as the roadmap to guide the school division’s priorities over the next five years. This plan is designed to support each student in thriving academically, socially and emotionally, while providing a clear path for how ACPS will allocate resources, set priorities and measure progress. A two-page summary of the draft plan—including the vision, goals and strategies—is currently available to view on the ACPS 2030 Strategic Plan webpage. 

The 2025–30 Strategic Plan outlines:

• A refreshed mission and vision centered on preparing each student to thrive in college, career and life.
• Core values with defined everyday practices and behaviors that will help bring the strategic plan to life.
• Five strategic goal areas focused on safe environments, academic excellence, staff development, community trust and postsecondary readiness. Each goal has key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress..
• Strategies and priority actions within each goal that are aligned to daily work across the division—from classrooms to central office.

The draft 2025-30 Strategic Plan was formally presented to the School Board on Thurs., April 3, 2025, and was further discussed during the School Board Work Session on Thurs., April 10, 2025. These discussions mark the culmination of a year-long, comprehensive planning process through the work of the Strategic Planning Committee and incorporating  input from students, staff, families and community partners through survey and focus groups.

The community is encouraged to provide a final round of feedback on the strategic plan during the Public Hearing on the Strategic Plan in the School Board meeting room on Mon., April 21 at 6 p.m. The School Board will vote on the final version of the 2025-30 Strategic Plan at the School Board meeting on May 8, 2025.
