Final 2021-22 School Year VIP Awards

Final 2021-22 School Year VIP Awards

The final Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) staff to be recognized with a Vision, Integrity and Passion (VIP) Award for the 2021-22 academic year have been selected. Three recipients in the leadership category have been singled out for their dedication and achievement.

  • Patrick Henry K-8 School Academic Principal Andaiye Cammon “pours her heart and soul into every aspect of our school,” says Principal Dr. Ingrid Bynum, who nominated her. “She works hard to ensure we provide high levels of instruction and socio-emotional support for individual students.” Cammon is commended for embodying the true spirit of “doing what is right for children.”
  • Alexandria City High School (ACHS) Campus Administrator Carmen Sanders is praised by teachers as deserving of every honor for being the best at keeping students safe and striving for success. She is considered an excellent problem solver and someone who “cares enough to pick up garbage outside even when no one is looking.” Sanders takes into account “the needs of students with disabilities in the City-Wide program when coordinating events for the whole student body.”
  • ACHS Academy 2 Administrator for Instruction and Student Support Christopher Thompson is known for cultivating an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork. Thompson was nominated by ACHS teachers as a VIP because he is “truly one of the most thoughtful and empathetic administrators I have ever worked for in my over 20 years of employment at ACPS.”
