Get Involved in the Budget Process: Public Hearing on Jan. 19
The School Board will hold a public hearing on Thur., Jan. 19, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. on the Proposed FY 2024 Combined Funds Budget focusing on staff compensation, the opening of a new facility, renovation of a new building and preventive maintenance at other school sites, as well as increased funding for grades K-4 literacy, high school math, English learner positions, student social-emotional support, school security services and expansion plans for middle school athletics and student athlete supports.
The Proposed Combined Funds Budget includes the operating budget, provides additional school nutrition funds as well as grants and special projects, totaling $359.9 million which is a 4.2% increase from last year’s $329.4 million budget.
Members of the public who wish to give remarks on the FY 2024 Combined Funds Budget can sign up to speak in person or via Zoom, or submit written public comments via the online form. Only comments related to the Combined Funds Budget will be heard. The deadline to sign up is Wed., Jan. 18, 2023, by noon.
The Board will hold the second Combined Funds Budget Work Session immediately following the public hearing. Work session recordings can be viewed online, including the first Combined Funds Budget Work Session, held Jan. 12, 2023.
