Happy Fall/Thanksgiving Break! Reminders for Returning on Nov. 27, 2023
As families consider their plans before the upcoming Fall/Thanksgiving break, it is important to remember that being present can make a world of difference in a child’s education, which is why attendance is among Alexandria City Public Schools’ (ACPS) key areas of focus. In our attendance video, we underscore how positive attendance for students in pre-K-Grade 12 puts students on the path toward good future habits and lifelong success.
In recognition of its importance, we ask ACPS families to partner with us in promoting attendance by planning vacations during the academic year in accordance with the ACPS school calendar.
The upcoming Fall/Thanksgiving break is scheduled for Nov. 22-24, 2023. Students are expected to be back in school and ready to learn on Nov. 27, 2023. As December quickly approaches, we would also like to remind families that winter break is scheduled for Dec. 18, 2023, through Jan. 1, 2024. School begins on Tues., Jan. 2, 2024.
Being in class every scheduled school day helps keep your student engaged and has a profound effect on their success. The division encourages your support to ensure that students are present and ready to learn before, during and after the fall, winter and spring breaks as they continue on their journey toward graduation.
ACPS extends its best wishes as our families enjoy time together during the upcoming breaks.
