Happy Spring Break! Reminders for Returning on April 2, 2024
As our families consider Spring Break plans, it is important to remember that being present makes a world of difference in a child’s education. That is why attendance is a key area of focus for Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS). Check out our Spring Back to Learning video to find out more about how positive attendance in grades Pre-K-12 puts students on the path toward building good future habits and lifelong success.
We ask ACPS families to partner with us in promoting attendance by planning vacations during the academic year, in accordance with the ACPS school calendar. On March 22, 2024, ACPS has a teacher work day, which means there is no school for students, except for those at Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School (Tucker), who have a two-hour early dismissal. The upcoming Spring Break begins on March 25, 2024, and runs through March 29, 2024. April 1, 2024, is a teacher work day, which means there is no school for students, except for those at Tucker. For Tucker students, April 1, 2024, is the beginning of their spring intersession. All other ACPS students are expected to return to school on April 2, 2024. This means that ACPS students who follow the traditional academic calendar would have March 21, 2024, as their last day in school before Spring Break and would return to school after Spring Break on April 2, 2024.
Being in class every scheduled school day keeps students engaged and has a profound effect on their success. The division encourages families to support and ensure that students are present and ready to learn before, during and after the Spring Break as they continue on their journey toward graduation.
ACPS extends its best wishes as families enjoy time together during this year’s Spring Break and we look forward to seeing all of our students back in class on April 2, 2024.
