Julita Brown-Dunn Appointed as Dean of Students at Francis C. Hammond Middle School

Julita Brown-Dunn

Beginning with the 2025-26 school year, Julita Brown-Dunn will serve as dean of students at Francis C. Hammond Middle School. First joining Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) in 2013, Brown-Dunn has served as a classroom teacher, an Equity Advisory Committee member, a reading interventionist for grades PreK-8, summer learning principal for middle school and dean of students at Jefferson-Houston PreK-8 IB School. She has been in the field of education for 32 years. Brown-Dunn earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in History from Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama and received a Master of Education in Educational Supervision and Administration PreK-12 from Regent University. As the dean of students, her main goal is to cultivate a culturally responsive, restorative and safe environment for students, their families, teachers and staff.
