Meet Our Partner: Little Friends for Peace

Meet Our Partner: Little Friends for Peace

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is fortunate to count dozens of dedicated businesses, community organizations and institutions of higher education as partners working with us each day to inspire students and address barriers to learning. The #MeetTheACPSPartners feature aims to proudly thank our partner organizations. Through these question and answer style articles, ACPS also wants our school community to get to know who our partners are and the positive impact they have on our schools. Let us meet the partners:

What’s your mission statement? How do you work with ACPS students, families or staff?

Little Friends for Peace (LFFP) does Peace Education to help with social, emotional wellness and inner peace. LFFP teaches tools and practices to help with social interactions and problem solving. LFFP provides after school programs, teacher training and family peace circles.

How long has your organization been (officially/unofficially) partnering with ACPS?

Eight to 10 years.

If you could describe the impact of your work with ACPS in three words or less, what would they be?

Positive, enriching and interactive.

What is a recent bit of good news about your organization or a feel-good story that you can share about your work?

Students love to play our cooperative games, share in peace circles and do art for peace. One student said, “I love Peace Club, everyone is nice and I learn and have fun.”

What is one thing most people might not know about your organization's work?

Little Friends For Peace is for all ages, all people and it is about inner peace with the message:  when each person is at peace, then there will be peace in the world.

How can community members get involved and support your organization's collaborative efforts with ACPS?

LFFP works to help interrupt the violence and help create safe places for all to learn, to play and be in peace. LFFP is about practical tools and it helps create a culture of peace where all can learn, work and interact in peace. It is a hands-on, interactive program where everyone is experiencing, learning and practicing peace.
