National Custodian Day is Oct. 2, 2023!

National Custodian Day is Oct. 2, 2023! This day recognizes the hard work that it takes to keep our public facilities in great shape as well as the people who diligently work to make sure we have schools and workplaces that are clean and sanitary. Custodians may go unnoticed throughout the school day but they are vital to keeping the schools and environment safe and healthy.

“I want to thank our custodians and highlight their good work in our schools,” Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Superintendent Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt said. “There are so many ways that our staff and community members support our students, and we are so appreciative of everything that custodians do in our schools to create a warm and welcoming learning environment.”

The ACPS custodial services team members exhibit passion through their work and provide unwavering support to everyone in our schools.

“Our custodians work hard to keep our school buildings clean, safe and tidy,” Director of Maintenance and Custodial Services Amanda Ou said. “I am very proud of my team for ensuring that our facilities receive the proper cleaning needed to create safe and welcoming learning environments for our students.”

On National Custodian Day, we ask that you show your appreciation to the ACPS custodians who clean our schools and office buildings and are an integral part of our school community.
