Principal Appreciation Week Highlights

Principal Appreciation Week Highlights

Captured on video and shared across social media, students joined in celebrating Alexandria City Public Schools’ (ACPS) dedicated and supportive principals as we observed Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week, Jan. 12-18, 2025. Principals were caught in action as they engaged with students and staff in their classrooms, cafeterias and outside school buildings. The campaign was a wonderful opportunity for the school division to show its appreciation for our school principals who play an important role in shaping the overall school climate and helping to ensure a positive learning environment for all students to succeed.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin issued a proclamation, focusing on the positive impact of our principals in schools across the Commonwealth. Youngkin pointed out that “school principals are entrusted with the opportunity and responsibility of guiding, directing, nurturing, mentoring and imparting knowledge to our children while they are at school.” In the proclamation, he also noted that, “school principals work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, parents and the community at-large to proactively prepare students to be productive members of our economy, informed citizens in our democracy and engaged neighbors in our communities.”

We join in celebrating and showing our appreciation for the inspiration our principals offer to our students, families and staff across the school division. Check out the recap of photos and videos shared across social media by our schools! These heartfelt messages, fun moments and inspiring stories showcase the impact our principals make every day.

Thank you to all our ACPS principals 💙#PrincipalsShoutOut and #ThxACPSPrincipals.
