School Board Public Hearings Scheduled for May 18, 2023, on Budgets and APD MOU

Public hearings on the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) budgets and ACPS/Alexandria Police Department (APD) memorandum of understanding (MOU) are scheduled for the Alexandria City School Board meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thurs., May 18, 2023. Community members are welcome to sign up to share their feedback on these two key topics.

The adoption process for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Combined Funds and the FY 2024-2033 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budgets is in its final phase. This is the public’s chance to share feedback before the Board makes any adjustments prior to final adoption of the budgets. Community members can access information that was presented at the May 4, 2023, budget work session and sign up to speak during the public hearing.

At its May 18, 2023, meeting, the School Board will also address the ACPS-APD MOU that requires review and approval every two years. The last MOU was reviewed and approved in October 2020. The 2020 MOU and proposed changes were discussed at the May 4, 2023, School Board meeting. The public is also invited to sign up to speak at the public hearing on the ACPS/APD MOU.

In addition, a School Board public hearing has been scheduled for Thurs., June 1, 2023, on the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III use of funds plan.
