School Boundary Redistricting Process Update: New Maps and Upcoming Engagement Opportunities

School Boundary Redistricting Process Update: New Maps and Upcoming Engagement Opportunities

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is continuing to move forward with the School Boundary Redistricting Process, and we want to keep our families and community informed and involved every step of the way. Currently, five proposed draft maps—Green, Yellow, Purple, Orange, and Blue—are available for review on the School Boundary Redistricting webpage. These maps reflect early options in the process, and we anticipate several iterations before the final School Board vote on June 12, 2025.

At the upcoming Redistricting Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting on Wed., April 8, 2025, at 6 p.m., a new proposed map will be shared and discussed. This meeting is open to the public to view virtually, offering another opportunity to stay informed about this important process.

We encourage the community to continue engaging in the process by attending the second Redistricting Hybrid Community Meeting on Tues., April 22, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at the Alexandria City High School King Street Campus. Community members will also be able to participate virtually if they are unable to attend in person. If you are interested in participating virtually or in-person, please register for this meeting in advance.

This process is vital to ensuring balanced enrollment and equitable access to our schools across the school division, and your input is a valued part of this work.

The final School Board vote on the proposed school boundary changes will take place on June 12, 2025. The new boundaries will go into effect at the start of the 2026-27 school year. View the Road to the School Boundary Redistricting Decision Infographic for a listing of all the redistricting process engagement opportunities and important dates.
