Families interested in learning more about attending ninth grade in ACPS are invited to participate in a guided tour of ACHS Minnie Howard Campus. Tours will be conducted in English and Spanish.
Summer Breakfast & Lunch Program
Mon., June 26 - Thurs., July 20
All ACPS students and children under 18 can receive free meals this summer, Monday - Thursday, when they visit one of five ACPS sites. The program runs June 26 through July 20. Site details and schedules are available online.

ALIVE! is a local not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency and basic needs support to children, families and individuals living in poverty and with hunger in the City of Alexandria. ALIVE! will distribute bags of food to Alexandria City residents. No ID is required.

The City of Alexandria celebrates its 274th birthday and the USA’s 247th birthday on Sat., July 8, with a performance by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and a grand finale fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Enjoy the big birthday experience including cupcakes, local vendors and live music.

National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Nearly three dozen Alexandria communities will host activities. Exact times and events vary by neighborhood. Stay tuned to the Alexandria Police Department’s Facebook and Twitter accounts for more information.
Step Up to Kindergarten
Fri., Aug. 18
ACPS will host a half-day of orientation for incoming kindergarten students. This introduction to the school experience before the official start of the school year helps incoming kindergarten students become familiar with their schools, classrooms and teachers so they can feel more comfortable on the first day of school.
