Superintendent Holds First Community Chat of the 2023-24 School Year
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) community members joined the “Superintendent’s Community Chat: One Team, One Journey” event, held at Alexandria City High School and online, on Oct. 3, 2023. Superintendent Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt and school division leadership discussed priorities and concerns in response to questions from the community. There were more than 420 virtual and in-person attendees.
“I would like to thank everyone who joined us, in person and virtually, for this important conversation. It is important for our school division leaders to hear the questions and concerns that stakeholders have for us, as the school year gets underway. Working together with our community is essential to student success,” Dr. Kay-Wyatt said.
The superintendent highlighted priorities for the 2023-24 school year on school culture and experience, academic achievement and absenteeism and student engagement. Questions submitted in advance and shared live from the in-person audience and those participating online were addressed during the hour-long program.
A recording of the Oct. 3, 2023, event will be available at acps.cc/2023communitychats once captioning is completed.
