Thank You for Celebrating Our Teachers: The Heart of ACPS
This week, the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) community came together in a powerful way to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, and we want to take a moment to say thank you. Your outpouring of appreciation—through videos, messages and thoughtful gestures—reminded us all why our teachers are the heart of ACPS.
As part of our ongoing ACPS Heart Work campaign, we recognize that teaching is more than a profession—it is a calling rooted in compassion, commitment and a deep belief in the potential of every student. Our teachers show up every day not just to teach content, but to uplift, encourage and guide young people on their journey. They are mentors, advocates and champions for equity and opportunity.
Throughout the week, we were inspired by the many ways our school communities showed gratitude. From heartfelt video messages shared on social media to school-wide celebrations, personalized thank-you notes and surprise treats, the love for our teachers was undeniable.

This collective expression of gratitude was a powerful reflection of what our “heart work” stands for—lifting up those who make a difference, fostering strong relationships and celebrating the impact of public education.
To all of our teachers: thank you for being the steady hands, open hearts and guiding lights our students rely on. You are seen, valued and deeply appreciated—not only during Teacher Appreciation Week, but every day.
Let us continue as a community to carry the spirit of “heart work” forward as we close out the school year. Together, we are one team on one journey, building brighter futures for all.
