VSBA Names Jacinta Greene Northeastern Region School Board Member of the Year

Alexandria City School Board member Jacinta Greene is a recipient of the Virginia School Boards Association’s (VSBA) Northeastern Region School Board Member of the Year Award. This award is presented by the VSBA to recognize an outstanding School Board member from the region who demonstrates exceptional leadership and actively works to improve student success within their school division.

“We are excited that Jacinta Greene is being recognized for her long-standing commitment to serving students in Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS). Ms. Greene has been a strong advocate for children and youth, and this award is truly well deserved,” Alexandria City School Board Chair Dr. Michelle Rief said.

Greene is a former vice chair of the Alexandria City School Board and was first elected as a member in 2018. She has strived to ensure equity for all in keeping with the ACPS Strategic Plan. Through her work on the School Board, as a community leader, in corporate America and as a business consultant, Greene has fought to preserve what is great about Alexandria.

Greene was recognized by the VSBA with its Northeastern Region School Board Member of the Year Award on Wed., Nov. 20, 2024, during the organization’s 2024 annual convention in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Greene is a native of Richmond, Virginia, and is a proud graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University. On Nov. 5, 2024, Greene was elected to the Alexandria City Council.
