ACPS Department of Student Services and Equity Welcomes Brielle Welch as Director of Equitable Practices

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is pleased to announce the selection of Brielle Welch as the director of equitable practices for the division. An ACPS’ alumnus, Welch has a background as an equity practitioner and prides herself on seeing the humanity in others while modeling that perspective in her daily life.

As an equity practitioner, Welch has developed further knowledge through training that includes unconscious bias, inclusive leadership, race privilege and identity and allyship in the workplace. She has spent more than five years developing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) curriculum, workshops, articles and original social media content to maximize equity and empowerment. She has worked with education and corporate clients across three continents and organizations ranging from global financial firms to arts education nonprofits. Welch is committed to supporting all leaders in creating spaces where people of all identities can feel safe, empowered and supported to reach new heights in their career, learning experiences and personal activism.

Welch earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Africana studies from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Arts degree in elementary inclusive education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
