ACPS in the News for November and December
As the school year progresses, we want to highlight the extraordinary work being done throughout our school division. As we close out 2022, here are some featured news reports that helped to tell the stories of our wonderful ACPS schools in November and December.
The Alexandria Times featured the safety forum hosted by the Alexandria Council of PTAs (PTAC) and the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) with other partners. ACPS Interim Superintendent Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt, ACPS Director of Safety and Security Services John Contreras and ACPS Director of School Social Work Faiza Jackson discussed school safety during the event at George Washington Middle School.

In a two-part feature, The Zebra Press featured the visit of a children’s book author to Ferdinand T. Day Elementary School. Author Dr. Deborah Hall-Greene Thomas shared the story of the Tuskegee Airmen with the students.

During the live morning broadcast, Fox 5 featured culinary arts students at Alexandria City High School. The students, guided by ACHS Culinary Arts Teacher and Chef Craig Scheuerman, created masterpieces to raise money for the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.
