As the school year progresses, we want to highlight the great work being done throughout our school division. As we close out the month of October, here are some featured news reports that helped to tell the stories from our wonderful ACPS schools.
FOX-5 Live Pep Rally with the Alexandria City Titans: Matthew Cappucci came with Fox 5 to Alexandria City High School on Oct. 14, 2022, and featured Titan student athletics at a pep rally as a part of their Friday, Show Us Your Spirit segment.
WJLA Focuses on ACPS Teacher Retention: WJLA’s Heather Graf interviewed ACPS Director of Recruitment and Retention Margaret Browne on Oct. 3, 2022, and discussed the significance of supporting teaching staff amidst a nationwide teaching shortage.
WJLA Looks at How ACPS Addresses Absenteeism: WJLA’s Kim Jackson visited William Ramsay Elementary School on Oct. 4, 2022, to interview ACPS Executive Director of Student Services Dr. Marcia Jackson about the division’s efforts in tackling chronic absenteeism and also interviewed William Ramsay Principal Michael Routhouska and Teacher Samantha Smaldone about how their school encourages good student attendance.
Alexandria Times Shines a Spotlight on the ACPS Interim Superintendent: Olivia Anderson of The Alexandria Times interviewed ACPS Interim Superintendent Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt for a profile as she settles into her new role in the school division.
