ACPS Welcomes Dr. Eric Coleman as School Nutrition Services Director
Dr. Eric K. Coleman has been selected as the new director of School Nutrition Services (SNS) for Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS), having assumed his position Feb. 6, 2023. In taking on this role, Dr. Coleman will ensure the ACPS meal program provides nutritious and delicious food reflective of the diverse cultures, tastes and dietary needs of the more than 15,000 students in our division. He will also be responsible for the management and administration of all functions of the ACPS school nutrition office. This includes the planning, organization, supervision and evaluation of all activities and staff within SNS.
"I am very happy to welcome Dr. Coleman to the Department of Facilities and Operations as the director of School Nutrition Services,” ACPS Chief of Facilities and Operations Dr. Alicia Hart said. “His expertise in the culinary arts, as well as his vast background in school nutrition operations, will help the Office of School Nutrition continue to achieve its goal of serving healthy and nutritious meals to our students."
Dr. Coleman is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His previous experience in K-12 education includes serving as the regional manager of operations for the District of Columbia Public Schools Office of Food and Nutrition Services. At the Whittle School and Studios in Washington, D.C., he was the senior operations director for Food Literacy and Special Projects.
Dr. Coleman holds a doctorate degree in educational leadership, master’s in educational training and business administration and a bachelor’s in business management and global supply chain operations. He has more than 20 years of experience related to the food service and hospitality industry and is a certified chef with the American Culinary Federation. He is also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
