Apply for Financial Assistance for Postgraduate Coursework by Oct. 31, 2022
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) has received a grant through the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) to support staff members pursuing a Virginia teaching license with the cost of post-graduate coursework. This is a great opportunity for provisional license holders who need to complete coursework, fully licensed teachers who are looking to add an endorsement in a critical needs area or an instructional assistant who is pursuing their teaching license.
Staff that are currently enrolled in courses for the fall 2022 semester or will be enrolled in the spring 2023 semester are eligible to apply for financial support from this grant.
Employees can request funding support for up to three courses or a total of $1,000 towards postgraduate coursework that leads to licensure. All eligible staff are encouraged to apply, but funds are limited. If an abundant amount of applications are received, preference will be given to applicants who are teaching in high-need content areas such as special education and Title I schools.
Applications are available now and can be submitted through this Google Form. The deadline to submit applications is Oct. 31, 2022. Those selected to receive funding will be notified this upcoming December. All recipients are required to submit registration confirmation on official university letterhead.
After successful completion of the course(s), staff are required to send official transcripts from their university displaying their completion and grade earned to the ACPS Department of Human Resources.
For further questions about the application process, reach out to the licensure team at: licensure@acps.k12.va.us. Additional information about this opportunity can also be found in this presentation.
