ACPS Employee Wellness is partnering with Stroke Smart Alexandria to increase awareness of stroke symptoms in an effort to be able to spot and stop a stroke. Employees can become a Stroke Smart Champion by completing the Stroke Smart Training in PLMS.
The mission of Stroke Smart Alexandria is to save lives and reduce suffering by increasing awareness of stroke warning signs and the need to call 911 immediately. Stroke Smart Alexandria reports that Center for Disease Control and Prevention facts are that someone in the U.S. experiences a stroke every 40 seconds and someone dies from a stroke every four minutes. If you or a loved one think you spot stroke symptoms, you should not hesitate to call 911 as it is better to be safe than sorry.
