Employee Health & Wellness: Winter Healthy Eating Tips

Employee Health & Wellness: Winter Healthy Eating Tips

Eating healthy during the holidays can be difficult. Attending multiple events, dinners and large gatherings leave plenty of opportunity to indulge delicious meals. This can throw you off course in achieving your physical wellness goals. Being mindful and staying committed to a healthy lifestyle can help you maintain physical health while enjoying some of your holiday favorites.

Experts suggest that portion-controlled meals are essential in maintaining a well-balanced diet. Tools such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture's MyPlate can assist you in determining the recommended amount of calories and which food groups to target to ensure you are getting the appropriate amount of nutrients.

Making healthy swaps is another recommendation that can help you stay on track with your physical wellness. Switching out different foods such as cauliflower for mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes for white potatoes is something to consider when trying to find a healthy alternative.

A resource that ACPS offers to staff is the employee wellness program.
