Oct. 6, 2022, Lunch and Learn Opportunity on MAP Growth Assessments
Alexandria City Public School’s (ACPS) Department of Teaching, Learning and Leadership is partnering with the NWEA (formerly known as the Northwest Evaluation Association), the non-profit organization that developed MAP Growth assessments, to host an informative complimentary lunch and learn session from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 6, 2022, at Alexandria City High School (ACHS).
NWEA’s comprehensive assessment program provides tools to inform differentiated instruction and track growth over time. NWEA’s MAP suite of assessments can provide the district with reliable data that is necessary to advance equitable and innovative learning.
This session is designed for division-level specialists, coordinators, directors and other curricular leaders throughout the division who want to gain insight on how ACPS illuminates some of the disparities we see in student performance and data as well as ways ACPS organizes the data as a lever for improvement.
During the discussion, attendees will learn how ACPS uses MAP Growth data to close academic gaps and comply with state requirements. Additional discussion topics will include:
- Improving student outcomes with equitable data practices.
- The evolution of data usage in ACPS.
- How MAP growth: provides teachers and administrators with timely easy-to-use reports, measures academic growth over time with longitudinal data for all students and facilitates appropriate goal setting based on individual student scores.
- How MAP Reading Fluency quickly and accurately assess oral reading fluency for pre-K through fifth grade and efficiently measures oral reading fluency with online adaptive assessments that are automatically scored.
- Helps identify common signs of reading difficulties with the MAP Reading Fluency Dyslexia Screener.
Guests will also hear from early reading specialist Heather Cella on how MAP Reading Fluency supports the Virginia Literacy Act.
