VPI Eligibility Requirements for School Year 2023–2024

  1. Age
    • Your child must be three or four years old by September 30 
  2. Residency
  3. Income
    • The child’s family must meet the income eligibility poverty guidelines or other risk factors.

How to Enroll for the 2023-2024 School Year

Step 1

Start your registration process by visiting ACPS VPI Appointments: https://acpsvpi.setmore.com to schedule a phone screening appointment 

Step 3

2023–2024 school year registration forms must be completed entirely to be processed. After creating an online account, select "ACPS Use Only" for school selection. School assignment is determined by VPI registrars.

Shared Housing: If residing with someone else, the parent/legal guardian must complete a notarized Shared Housing Form and provide an original copy of the mortgage, deed (with a tax bill) or an original copy of the lease for the person with whom the parent/legal guardian and child(ren) are living. Additionally, the parent/legal guardian is required to provide two supporting documents (in the parent/legal guardian’s name) as listed in the registration form.

Complete medical documents: Commonwealth of Virginia School Entrance Health Form (PDF)

  • Physical examination report
  • Immunization record
  • TB Screening
Step 5

After your phone screening and reviewing required documents, a VPI registrar will schedule your in-person appointment to submit all original documents and complete your registration. In-person registration is by appointment only,  Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m

Please note: Spaces are limited. Acceptance to the VPI program is not on a first-come, first-served basis. Only complete applications can be processed for possible consideration for a space. Qualifying families that complete their registration will be placed on the VPI waitlist.


Important VPI Registration Deadlines

April 3–April 7, 2023 Office closed for spring break.

April 2023

Registration begins for the 2023-24 school year starts. Registration is ongoing until March 2024.

June 2, 2023

1st Priority Consideration deadline: families that complete registration by June 2, 2023 will be considered for the lottery and notified upon selection.

July 28, 2023

2nd Priority Consideration deadline: families that complete registration by July 28, 2023 will be considered for the lottery and notified upon selection.

August 23, 2023

First day of preschool for VPI students.

August 1, 2023- March 1, 2024

Families that complete registration will be placed on the waitlist until a space becomes available.

March 25–29, 2024 Office closed for spring break.
