Summer Learning: Current High School Students (Online)

Online Summer Learning for Current 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Grade Students

To register for the Alexandria City High School summer program (Grades 9-12), students must contact their school counselor. All registration is managed by ACHS School Counselors and will open on March 24, 2025, with priority given to seniors needing credit recovery courses.

  • Registration Opens: March 24th (Seniors take priority)
  • Underclassmen (Grades 9-11) Registration Begins: April 7th
  • Registration Closes: May 2nd
  • Online Course Registration Closes: May 16th

When taking any summer course, all ACPS students are expected to follow the ACPS Honor Code

Some high school programs are available to all students, while others require a student to sign up and potentially pay to enroll in a class. Students can sign up for the following classes by contacting their school counselor.

  • Original credit courses (in-person or online) cost $285.00
  • Credit recovery courses are free
  • Any student who is eligible for Free or Reduced Price Meals can access these classes for $60.

Original Credit Summer Courses

  • Courses are self-paced
    • Original Credit courses are approximately 140 seat hours of instruction
      • All original credit courses are subject to vendor availability and priority will be given to current and rising 12th grade students
  • Learning hours: varies

Criteria
  • Current Underclassmen: Online classes for original credit are available to current 9th grade (rising 10th) current 10th grade (rising 11th), current 11th grade (rising 12th). Students may take one online original credit course during the summer school window, June 16 - July 29 from the offerings below.
     
  • Current Seniors: Attempting a July 2025 graduation may be authorized by the high school summer principal and online summer principal (Erik Perini) to register for up to TWO online credit recovery courses, in addition to ONE in-person credit recovery course, for a total of THREE credit recovery courses. Students who are approved for this option, MUST begin their online course(s) on May 29, 2025. Students will not be able to register for this option after May 29, 2025.
