ACPS Celebrates Placement of Final Structural Beam for New ACHS Minnie Howard Campus

On April 26, 2023, Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) celebrated a major milestone in the construction of our new Alexandria City High School (ACHS) Minnie Howard campus by holding an event for the signing of the final steel beam by school and community leaders.

During the special ceremony, ACPS recognized this project milestone by inviting Alexandria City School Board Chair Meagan L. Alderton, City of Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson, ACPS Interim Superintendent Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt and City Manager James F. Parajon, along with School Board members and City Council members present to sign the beam. The beam had also been signed by the workers on site who have been on the job site for months to put the structure in place. Once the signing was complete, a crane lifted the beam and positioned it in the top corner of the building. More information about the High School Project can be found online.
