Submit Reclassification Requests by September 30, 2025

To ensure that an employee's job responsibilities continue to align with their job title and compensation, the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Department of Human Resources (HR) offers an annual job reclassification process for eligible employees.

Employees who believe their duties and responsibilities have changed to the extent that their positions should be reclassified may submit a reclassification request to describe the changes in their duties and submit it to their supervisor and department chief. Once the supervisor and department chief have analyzed and determined the revised job description is accurate, the department chief can forward the request to HR.

HR will review and submit the request to a neutral third-party classification consultant for an evaluation of the request and any potential recommendations. All employees must follow the reclassification process as described. Employees are not permitted to submit a reclassification request to the HR department without formal permission signed by their department chief.

Employees can request a reclassification review once every two years, if their job duties have significantly changed during that time period.

To be considered for reclassification, beginning Mon., Sept. 1, 2025, all ACPS employees may submit reclassification requests to HR. All reclassification requests must be submitted by Tue., Sept. 30, 2025. Reclassification requests can be submitted via email to HRCompensation@acps.k12.va.us.
