ACPS Celebrates National Immigrant Heritage Month

ACPS Celebrates National Immigrant Heritage Month

National Immigrant Heritage Month honors the contributions of immigrants to American history, from a historical to social and cultural standpoint. In celebrating our immigrant heritage in June, we are encouraged to learn about the history of immigrant communities and engage in activities that promote values like diversity, equity and inclusion. These values are all in keeping with our 2025 Strategic Plan: Equity for All.

This month provides the opportunity to reflect on the countless contributions of immigrants here in our school division and across the United States. It also offers the opportunity to explore one’s own heritage and celebrate the shared diversity that forms the unique story of America.

National Immigrant Heritage Month was first celebrated in June 2014 as part of the I Stand with Immigrants initiative. It serves to empower immigrants to share stories and encourage action that demonstrates how immigration benefits the country, economy and communities.
