ESL II - Conversation Club for Intermediate ESL Speakers

Mondays and Wednesdays in February (Feb. 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27), 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The Alexandria Library builds community by providing opportunities to learn, explore, create and connect. Its ESL II Conversation Club is a space for intermediate speakers to practice English and build confidence. No registration is required.

 

Early Release Days for Parent-Teacher Conferences

Thurs., Feb. 2 and Fri., Feb. 3 (High School)

Thurs., Feb. 9 and Fri., Feb. 10 (Elementary Schools, except Tucker, & K-8 Schools)

Thurs., Feb. 16 and Fri., Feb. 17 (Middle Schools)

Parent-teacher conferences are an important opportunity for families and teachers to discuss students’ social, emotional and academic learning progress. In February, when school conferences are being held on “early release” days, students will be dismissed from school two hours earlier than usual. Each teacher will communicate with their students, staff and families regarding sign-ups for conferences.

 

2023 Equity Climate Survey

All families, staff, and students in grades 6-12 are asked to complete this survey between Feb. 3 and Feb. 26, 2023. We are excited to hear from the many perspectives in our community about the ACPS school climate and learning environments as we work to advance our five-year strategic plan, Equity for All 2025.

 

Our Faces in Film

ACHS Academic Orientation & Curriculum Night

Mon., Feb. 6, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Alexandria City High School (ACHS) - King Street Campus (3330 King St.)

Students currently in grades eight through 11 and their families are invited to get a glimpse of our AMAZING high school programs. This evening program will offer families the chance to attend sessions on graduation requirements, course offerings, sequencing and expectations. Special sessions on the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academy and Governor’s Health Sciences Academy at ACHS will also be presented.

 

Middle School Open Houses for Rising Sixth Grade Students

Prospective parents and families whose students will begin sixth grade in August 2023 are invited to a preview of the 2023-24 school year and learn about course offerings, programs, opportunities, supports and extracurricular activities.

 

All-City Fifth Grade Choral Festival Performance

Select fifth grade students from each elementary school will take the stage to make music together as part of our All-City Fifth Grade Choral Festival. Please join ACPS for this first-of-its-kind performance in our division.

 

The High School Project: Minnie Howard Virtual Community Meeting (Zoom)

Mon., Feb. 13, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Representatives of the Alexandria City Public Schools Office of Capital Programs, Planning and Design and Gilbane Building Company will provide an update on the High School Project: Minnie Howard redevelopment. If you cannot attend the virtual community meeting, the presentation will be available online, and all feedback received will be shared with the relevant staff and decision-makers on this project. George Washington Birthday Parade
