Reminder: The Department of Student Services and Equity to Host Staff Affinity Sessions in April
The Office of Equity within the Department of Student Services and Equity is proud to offer Affinity April, an opportunity for Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) employees to connect with other staff members across the division and investigate how our identities impact our work as educators. We will be offering eight affinity groups, each with a maximum capacity of 25 participants. All sessions will be held at 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Alex Renew Center (1800 Limerick Street, Sixth Floor). Affinity groups may be held on the same day; however, each group will have their own space in which to participate in their discussion.
Sessions are offered as follows:
- Tues., April 23, 2024 | 3:30-4:30 p.m. | Black, White, Asian American, Pacific Islander.
- Wed., April 24, 2024 | 3:30-4:30 p.m. | South Asian, Middle Eastern, Indigenous, Latinx.
This professional learning opportunity allows you to create meaningful connections outside of your school, share your voice around diverse employee experiences within ACPS and reflect on how identity impacts our practices. If you are interested in participating, please sign-up using this online form! We are excited for this opportunity to reflect and connect with each other. If you have any questions, please contact Director of Equitable Practices Brielle Welch at brielle.welch@acps.k12.va.us.
