New ACPS Substitute Incentive Pay Program

Beginning on Dec. 1, 2024, the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Human Resources (HR) team implemented a Substitute Incentive Pay Program that will provide compensation to current ACPS substitute teacher and substitute instructional assistant employees based on the frequency of assignments accepted and completed.

ACPS will compensate substitute teacher and substitute instructional assistant employees a $200 stipend (before taxes), for every 20 student learning days worked on a daily or non-long term assignment within a consecutive two-month period, beginning Dec. 1, 2024 through May 30, 2025. Days worked as part of a long-term assignment will not qualify for this incentive pay.

The incentive pay will be compensated after the consecutive two-month period has concluded based on the schedule outlined below:

View the calendar of eligible work months and corresponding pay dates:

  • December-January: Paid second pay date of February 2025
  • January-February: Paid second pay date of March 2025
  • February-March: Paid second pay date of April 2025
  • March-April: Paid second pay date of May 2025
  • April-May: Paid second pay date of June 2025

Individuals may qualify for this incentive pay multiple times, provided the eligibility criteria is met each time.

Payments will be subjected to tax deductions as with all other payments.
