Office of Capital Programs, Planning & Design

School facilities modernization project information and links

The Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Office of Capital Programs, Planning, and Design manages new facility projects (capacity projects) from implementation through the end of construction. The office also analyzes utilization, capacity, and enrollment projections for the division. New facility projects are funded via the Capital Improvement Budget.

The office is committed to modernizing school facilities at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. In order to provide transparent, proactive communication on capacity project work for the division, facility pages have been created for each school.

Stay updated on new/modernization projects through this webpage and our Modernization Calendar (coming soon).

Long Range Educational Facilities Plan

ACPS is working to improve facilities planning, accommodate the growing student population, and enhance educational programs and services.

Colocation of City/School Services

ACPS is exploring colocation options for city/school facilities on all school sites undergoing modernization.

The High School Project: Inspiring A Future for Alexandria

ACPS is redefining the high school experience for future generations of Alexandrians to meet the future business needs of the D.C. metro region.

Every year, the Superintendent of Alexandria City Public Schools proposes a Capital Improvement Budget to the School Board for adoption. As part of the drafting process for this budget, ACPS is soliciting projects for consideration in the budget from the school community and greater Alexandria City community.
