Radon Testing

Radon testing in schools is a routine, mandated procedure designed to ensure that radon levels remain within safe limits. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas found in soil and rock beneath buildings. While radon exposure at elevated levels can pose health risks, routine testing helps us monitor air quality and address any concerns. This testing is not indicative of any existing issue, but is required to ensure the ongoing safety of the building environment. More information can be found on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Managing Radon in Schools webpage.

Testing began on Monday, December 16, 2024, and took place during the school day, as mandated by state and federal guidelines. Please note that the testing process was non-intrusive, and there was no risk or hazard to students, staff or anyone else in the building when testing occurred.

If any follow-up actions are necessary as a result of testing, we will send out notifications and will take the appropriate steps to address them promptly. Mitigation efforts may include repairing gaps and cracks in walls and floors and installing radon reduction systems.
