New for September 2021 - VRS Member Guide

A new publication, the VRS Member Guide (PDF), is now available online. This guide consolidates VRS information to make it easier to understand the VRS system.

The VRS Member Guide explains VRS plan information in simple terms with action steps members can take now, like registering their myVRS account and setting voluntary and deferred compensation contributions. The guide also walks members through where to find their plan resources online and provides a timeline for taking action on other benefits, like purchase of prior service and signing up for optional group life insurance, if eligible. It briefly describes each VRS plan, the principal benefits available as a member and provides VRS contact information. It’s meant to be an easy-reference booklet. You may also watch the VRS promotional video.

This compact guide supplements member handbooks and applies to all VRS plans, new VRS members and current members who are moving to a new job or employer. For more information please visit the Virgina Retirement System website.
