School Engagement & Community Outreach
The School Engagement and Community Outreach team promotes the division’s priorities in our school communities and throughout Alexandria city. Our goal is to increase public understanding and visibility of the division while strengthening community relationships and championing ACPS students, staff and programs. We respond to stakeholder inquiries about ACPS programs, rally community partners to help meet student needs, participate in community activities across the city and implement systems to help inform and facilitate authentic engagement with our diverse community. Our efforts include:
Ask ACPS
When you have a question, concern, or comment you want to share with ACPS leadership, connect with our community engagement team to ensure your message is routed correctly.
School Newsletters
We are excited to communicate and share information with extended family members, volunteers, partners and other members of our community. We invite you to sign up to receive school newsletters and other general announcements. (Please note: parents and guardians automatically receive this information from the school at which their child is currently enrolled.)
In the Community
Our team’s calendar is filled with school-based events and a variety of community events. Find out when we’ll be in your neighborhood! (Event listing page to be developed).
ParentSquare
When you need to communicate with your child’s teacher or counselor, use ParentSquare to direct message staff, excuse an absence, sign-up for parent-teacher conferences and more.
Family Information Lines
Family liaisons and outreach assistants connect families in need of assistance through our Family Information Lines. During the school year, families can text or call the Helpline Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Backpack & School Supply Drive
Each summer, our team rallies with dozens of local businesses and community partners to collect backpacks and essential school supplies to help our division’s highest need students start the school year off on the right foot.
