Office of Equity and Title IX (Alternative Programs)
The Office of Equity and Alternative Programs reviews, recommends, and implements policies, regulations, and procedures to dismantle issues of disproportionality, diversity, cultural competency, and racial inequities. Sustained professional development on racial equity and cultural competency is offered for staff, students, and the community to assist schools in monitoring issues of disproportionality and diversity.
The office supports educational equity through the focused implementation and connected approach to the Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Restorative Practices, and the impact of mental health on students ability to access their education.
The Office of Equity and Alternative Programs provides direct oversight to the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center (NVJDC) School and ShelterCare Home School Educational Program, and serves as the liaison to the Bryant Transition Support Resource Center (TRSC).
