    KINDERGARTEN PREPARATORY PROGRAM (K-PREP)

    Dates: August 14-17, 2018*
    Times: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Locations: Each elementary school except Samuel W. Tucker. K-Prep for Ferdinand T. Day will be located at William Ramsay Elementary School.

    This program is for all incoming kindergarten students. Register at the school where your child will be attending kindergarten. Learn more about Kindergarten Prep.

    *Mount Vernon Community School will have their K-Prep program during the first week of Summer Language Academy, starting July 9.

    MIDDLE SCHOOL PREP

    EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR (ESY)

    Breakfast and lunch are served for all students.

    EL SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAM

                Grades 1st-5th
                William Ramsay Elementary School and George Mason Elementary School

                Note: Rising sixth graders attend the fifth-grade program, and rising ninth graders attend the eighth-grade program.

    Who may attend: Middle school students who passed Algebra I but did not pass the Algebra I SOL.

    SUMMER LANGUAGE ACADEMY

    Dates: July 9 - 27, 2018

    Times:

    Rising Kindergarten: 8:00 a.m. - noon

    Rising Grades 1-5: 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

    Location: Mount Vernon Community School (MVCS)

    Who may attend: All rising kindergarten through fifth-grade students from MVCS, and rising kindergarten through fifth-grade dual language students from John Adams Elementary School (JAES).

    Registration Cost:

    Kindergarten: Week one is free. Weeks 2-3 cost $100 per child. Free/reduced price lunch eligible families pay $25 per child.

    1st-5th Grades: $150 per child. Free/reduced price lunch eligible families pay $50 per family.

    Charges above apply to first two children per family. All children after two are free.

    Above price includes daily breakfast, lunch and transportation.

    SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

    The ACPS Summer Enrichment Program is a free, exclusive experience that helps students in grades three through eight enhance their skills in reading, writing and mathematics. Students will engage in a range of hands-on learning experiences, including projects and visits to Alexandria and Washington, D.C. landmarks. Breakfast and lunch are served for all students.

    TRANSITION TO ALGEBRA

    Dates: July 9-27, 2018
    Times: 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
    Location: George Washington Middle School
    Who may attend: Targeted for students exiting 7th grade with low course grade and/or below 400 on 7th Math SOL, breakfast and lunch are served for all students.

    SUMMER THEATRE SCHOOL (CAMP)

    Dates: July 9-27, 2018
    Times: 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
    Location: George Washington Middle School
    Who may attend: Students in grades 6th-8th
    Registration closed as of 6/25/18. Camp full.

    Breakfast and lunch are served for all students.

    Come join our talented company as we explore Acting on Camera, Improvisation, Clowning, and Stage Combat. Students will learn how to become more spontaneous performers by studying improvisational technique. They will develop comedic skills through audience interaction and workshops on basic stage combat. The program will also feature a unit on acting for the camera and an invited audience final performance.

    TITLE I PRIMARY PREPARATORY PROGRAM (3P)

    Locations: George Mason Elementary School and William Ramsay Elementary School

    The Title I Primary Preparatory Program is designed to prepare rising 1st and 2nd grade students (those who will complete K and 1st in June 2018), who attend Title I schools, for the rigors of the upcoming school year. Engaging learning experiences will be centered on foundational literacy and numeracy skills.

    MUSIC CAMP

    Dates: July 16-20, 2018
    Times: 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
    Location: George Washington Middle School
    Who may attend: Rising 5th- through 9th-grade band and orchestra students
    Registration: Register by completing and submitting the Summer Music Camp application form by July 1.

    ACPS Summer Camp is a program for rising fifth- through ninth-grade students who currently play an instrument. Students should have had at least one year of playing and note reading. Students are taught level-appropriate skills to improve their playing in a fun-filled, relaxed environment. Participants must be students in ACPS schools. Instruments will be provided for the students. Transportation to and from school is available. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
