Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports at Matthew Maury Elementary School
Matthew Maury Elementary School implements Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Maury staff members regularly teach and reinforce behavior expectations to help create a positive climate at the school.
At Maury, our expectations are: Show Respect, Act Responsibly, Impulsivity Management, and Listen and Learn (SAIL).
There are six locations around the school building that have posters outlining the specific expectations for those locations. In addition, students earn SAIL tickets from staff members when they exhibit positive behavior. At the end of each month, students can spend their earned SAIL tickets at the prize cart. In addition, student behavior is recognized at monthly cafeteria celebrations as well as quarterly celebrations. The Matthew Maury Elementary School PTA has been extremely helpful regarding the success of PBIS at Maury, particularly with assisting with the monthly prize carts and various celebrations.
